SecurePayStubs allows you to enter employee Form W-4 details to ensure federal taxes are withheld correctly. You can choose whether to use the updated 2020 Form W-4 or the older version. 

Option 1: Using the 2020 Form W-4 

  1. Check the box “Use 2020 Form W-4 for federal withholding calculation.” 
  1. Enter the employee’s information exactly as listed on their W-4: 
  1. Filing Status (Step 1c) 
  2. Multiple Jobs (Step 2) – enter the amount if applicable 
  3. Dependents Amount (Step 3) 
  4. Other Income (Step 4a) 
  5. Deduction Amount (Step 4b) 
  6. Extra Withholding (Step 4c) 
  1. Select whether the employee is exempt from: 
  1. Federal withholding 
  2. FICA (Social Security) 
  3. Medicare 

Option 2: Using the Pre-2020 Form W-4 

  1. Leave the box unchecked for “Use 2020 Form W-4 for federal withholding calculation.” 
  1. Enter the employee’s information as listed on their older W-4 form: 
  1. Filing Status (Box 3) 
  2. Number of Federal Allowances (Box 5) 
  3. Extra Withholding (Box 6) 
  1. Select whether the employee is exempt from: 
  1. Federal withholding 
  2. FICA (Social Security) 
  3. Medicare 

Tip: Always verify that you are using the correct version of Form W-4 provided by your employee to ensure compliance and accurate withholding.
